On Thursday, the electric vehicle manufacturer Polestar made the announcement that it intends to compete with Tesla in the cost port market.

The change will become effective in 2025, at which point all newly manufactured Polestar vehicles that are sold in North America will be equipped with a charging port that is compatible with Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS). Midway through the year 2024, users of Polestar vehicles will also be able to use a CCS adaptor to gain access to the Tesla Supercharger network for DC rapid charging.

That will make it possible for Polestar to successfully increase the number of demand information it provides to more than the 12,000 it already provides.

Supercharger for Tesla vehicles

The CEO of Polestar, Thomas Ingenlath, referred to the switch to the Tesla port as “a good earn for our North American consumers,” and he said that “it’s fantastic to see the Supercharger network becoming manufactured readily available in this way.”

The declaration made by Polestar comes on the heels of a similar announcement made by Volvo, the company’s corporate cousin and a partly owner, on Tuesday. This news also follows confirmations made by Ford, GM, and Rivian in recent months.

In November 2022, Tesla created an open contact for other auto businesses to use its connector. The company argued that its connector is the most verified one for electric vehicle rapidly-charging and that there are around sixty percent much more Tesla connectors than CCS connectors in the United States. Having said that, Inexperienced Auto Stories noted out a little while back that the Tesla typically lags behind CCS in locations, and this is something that CCS has pointed out as well.

Polestar’s up-and-coming electric vehicle lineup

The Polestar 2 hatchback, which was developed in China and is currently the only vehicle offered by the brand, is getting a rear-wheel-drive model. However, the company has a lot more in the works, so stay tuned. In 2024, Polestar will release the Polestar 3, a larger SUV with a focus on fuel economy that will be manufactured in the United States. After that, Polestar will release the Polestar 4, a smaller sized SUV, a short while after, with the Tesla Product Y in its sights. After that, we also anticipate the arrival of the flagship Polestar 5 and the roadster Polestar 6.
