Mahindra is readying a new entry-level variant for the Thar that will skip out on the 4-wheel generate procedure. The new variant, details for which were uncovered in a movie on-line, will also arrive with a scaled-down diesel engine along with a few slight tweaks.

No exterior styling changes except the absence of the 4×4 badge

Cosmetically the only alter will be the absence of the 4×4 badge on the rear fender with the cabin sporting an supplemental cubby gap in position of the common Thar’s 4×4 degree. The rest of the gear listing is predicted to be unchanged from the 4×4 design.

Centre console now only has the equipment lever 4×4 lever changed by a storage pocket.

The largest changes are centered on the mechanicals. Aside from dropping the 4×4 system, the new 4×2 variant will also get a more compact diesel motor. Whilst the 4×4 products are available with the familiar 2.2-litre mHawk diesel motor, the Thar 4×2 will be powered by a lower-spec 1.5-litre diesel engine. As for every leaked specifics, the new unit will produce 117 bhp and 300 Nm of torque – down 13 bhp, although torque is equivalent to the 2.2-litre diesel.

The sheet also lists out the specs for the 2.-litre turbo-petrol engine though the unit will get no changes from the 4×4 types. Gearbox options listed involved are a 6-speed guide and a 6-velocity automatic.
